Improving Health and Creating Jobs

EVENT SCHEDULE

This year we shall promulgate a vision for how bioengineering will be part of the solution to our nation’s most pressing challenges. AIMBE’s 21st Annual Event will explore the degree to which the medical and biological engineering community will contribute to advancements in human health and strengthen the nation’s economy. Program themes will highlight how medical and biological engineering will create jobs and secure health. This year, session topics include:

  • The Impact of Medical and Biological Engineering on the American Economy and Health: An opening keynote session that outlines the how medical and biological engineering technology creates jobs that bolster the economy, while addressing issues affecting human health.
  • Manufacturing New Therapies: Advanced biomanufacturing is an opportunity to recapture the United States’ capacity to manufacture goods versus services.
  • Bioengineering for Biodefense: Bioengineering is at the heart of U.S. biodefense preparedness, and this session will be both a call to action and a recognition of the essential role that engineering plays in defense.
  • Innovations in Medical and Biological Engineering: A two-part session that will focus on major innovations, specifically how they have changed the face of the health care system through cost reduction and job creation.
  • Sustaining 9 Billion People by 2050: How developments in agricultural engineering will sustain the environment while addressing the problem of feeding an ever-growing population on a limited planet.
